Requirements for Rooting


  • This process is only for Nokia X smartphones: X, X+ or XL variants.
  • Create a complete backup of all data and personal files stored on the Nokia X smartphone. Don not use any other backup software and automatic on a PC.
  • Before performing any installation, make sure that your device’s battery level is more than 70%.
  • Enable USB debugging. Go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging.
  • Download and install proper USB driver or Nokia PC Suite to your PC.

  • Download a Root explorer app on your device.
  • Download the Google Apps for Nokia X handsets.

Steps to root Nokia X, X+ and XL


  1. Extract the Google Apps compressed file which you have just downloaded to get the APK installer tool.
  2. Connect the Nokia X device to a computer using an original data cable.
  3. Copy and paste all the APK files from Google Apps package to the Nokia X root storage.
  4. Head over to the Nokia X smartphone, use the file explorer tool and then go to the location where you have placed all the APK files.
  5. Now click the rooting APK file to root your Nokia X device and follow the prompted on-screen instructions.
  6. Now Copy the Google Apps APK files from the downloaded to “/system/app” using the file explorer app and change permissions for the files in the device.
